Camp Wanocksett Officially Cancelled in 2020

Heart of New England Council, BSA

Summer Camp Update – It is with great disappointment that the Heart of New England Council announces that we will be unable to offer our previously-announced condensed residential summer camping programs at Camp Wanocksett. The State of New Hampshire’s final guidelines for summer camp included several conditions that make running even the condensed program unworkable, including burdensome testing and quarantine requirements; additionally, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is not expected to provide their final summer camp guidance for weeks to come. We sincerely thank our summer camp leadership, camp staff, volunteers, and professional staff who devoted countless hours of research and creativity over the past several weeks in developing our new summer program. We will continue to look for ways to provide summer program support for our Scouts, families, and units, including Scout Adventure Weekends at Treasure Valley Scout Reservation and, hopefully, Camp Wanocksett.

We will be offering a full and complete refund of your fee paid to-date.

New COVID-19 Post from Mayflower Council

May 25, 2020

Dear Scouting Family:

We hope that you are safe and healthy during this challenging time. Over the past several months, your Council leadership has been carefully monitoring the impact COVID-19 has had on our communities and on our Scouting program. While we are hopeful that restrictions will soon be adjusted to allow for some version of face-to-face Scouting meetings and outdoor activities, we are not quite there at this time. State guidelines still limit group size to no more than 10 people and camping, parks and select sports are planned to reopen in Phase 2. For the safety of our Scouts, Scouters and community, we are extending the suspension of all face-to-face meetings and our property closures through June 15, which is consistent with the phased reopening of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
